Jess is originally from Flemington New Jersey and attended Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, PA and began playing lacrosse as a sophmore in high school. During high school he was an All Main Line selection in 1989. Jess continued playing lacrosse in college at VWC as a member of the schools first NCAA Division III team. While at VWC he was an All ODAC selection as a midfielder, team captain and was selected to the Division III North/South All Star game for Seniors.
After his playing days at VWC he continued with his lacrosse interests as a collegiate coach at VWC and then as the head assistant coach at Widener University in Philadelphia, Pa. While coaching at Widener University he was twice invited to tryout with the Philadelphia Wings of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League. Jess still plays in the adult summer lacrosse league and on Team AARP for adults 35 and over.
Jess helps to develop and promote alumni relations at VWC through the Friends of VWC Lacrosse Foundation and each year a friend of the VWC lacrosse program receives the “Jess Stevenson Service to Virginia Wesleyan Lacrosse Award” for commitment and dedication to the program. In 2009 he began the West Beach Tigers as part of Hampton Roads Lacrosse to service the future of lacrosse in Western Virginia Beach. Jess lives in Virginia Beach and is married to Wendy and they have 3 lacrosse playing boys and a daughter.
