Most of our team coaches from 2013-2014 are returning to 757 Select Lacrosse for the 2014-2015 season.  We are very lucky to have some new  coaches joining the travel teams program this year, & we will be announcing team coaches for each team later this summer.

It is our goal to select the best team's possible at each age group.  With that in mind each age group will be selected by the team coaches & an age-group coordinator.  Team selections will be made immediately following the Sunday tryout, & will be announced to the participants early in the week.  All participants who are selected will then have until the following Sunday to confirm their decision to participate.

Our teams will begin fall practices on Sunday September 21.  Each Sunday practice thru Sunday October 19 will be a combination of the 757 Select fall clinic & the age group / team practice.  From 1PM - 2PM all team members will participate in the fall clinic which will stress fundamental, individual skill development led by 757 Select coaches.  At 2PM each team will begin their team practice, led by their team coaches.  ALL team practices will conclude by 3:30PM.  This format will allow our players & coaches to focus on fundamental, individual skills as well as work within a team dynamic.  The 2.5 hour session promises to be a great afternoon of lacrosse development for our players & teams.  The fall clinic fee will be a part of the travel team fee.  Over the final 2 weeks of October team practices will be TBD by the team coaches.

The fall team tournaments will be announced later in the summer, but plan for 2 (possibly 3) tournaments in November.

757 Select will offer off-season training opportunities for our players in the winter.  Those offerings will be announced this fall.  The teams will re-convene in the spring in preparation for spring / summer tournaments 2015.  The players who make the team in the fall are guaranteed a spot on one of the travel teams for the entire year - there my be some shifting of the rosters on the age group teams that offer 2 teams (Orange & Blue).

As 757 Select Lacrosse continues to grow we are constantly looking for ways to improve our lacrosse training for the players.  We are excited about the organizational changes we are making to the travel programs & fall clinic program.  It is our mission to continue to provide a youth lacrosse program that promotes quality lacrosse, in a competitive environment, led by experienced & qualified coaches.  For more info please visit www.757selectlacrosse.com.

After years of coaching and teaching lacrosse in Hampton Roads and beyond, a group of coaches and others that love and respect the game of lacrosse got together to talk about the areas needs. It became apparent that the youth program had grown to the point that a "select" opportunity beyond just travel teams was needed. This group recognized that Coaching and Instruction were paramount to the players development. They called on their network of lacrosse minds including Hall of Famers, NCAA Lacrosse Coaches, High School lacrosse Coaches, NCAA Officials, and elite players to start an elite Spring League for Hampton Roads and thus the 757 Select Lacrosse League was formed.

Simply put the mission of the 757 Select Lacrosse League is to provide a youth lacrosse program that promotes quality lacrosse, in a competitive environment, led by experienced and qualified Coaches. Bringing NCAA experience and coaching to this age group will elevate the level of lacrosse play in Hampton Roads and set the stage for young players to take advanced skills with them in their quest to play at the highest levels of competitive play. 757 Select Lacrosse League is made up of a group of experienced coaches and Board of Directors committed to elevating the game of lacrosse in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

A very important aspect of our program is team parent support & sideline behavior. We hope that you will always do your best to support our players, teams, & coaches in a positive manner.

We ask that our team parents stay clear of teams during practices. This is an important time for the players & coaches to work together without interference from parents.  Please feel free to observe, but refrain from “coaching” from your observation point. Our coaches all work hard to direct the boys.  Your cooperation is very, very important here.

Support our players & teams in a positive manner at our games & tournaments.  Encouragement goes a long way. Encourage your sons to do the same. Please do not criticize another team player or team coach, & never criticize an opponent or official. Positive feedback & comments from our supporters, directed towards the other teams & officials goes a long way.

Allow the team coaches to coach the team.  Different coaching points & criticisms can be counter-productive to what our team coaches are trying to accomplish.  All of our coaches are putting in a lot of time & effort to help make your son a better lacrosse player.  Respect their time & efforts by supporting them, not by contradicting them.

Support your son & his team regardless of the results.  We would love to see our teams win every time out, but there are many valuable lessons learned when the scoreboard does not end up in our favor.   Our organization will always stress the importance of playing the game the right way & respecting the game through great sportsmanship & competition.

I spend a significant amount of my career on a sideline, & hope that you’ll join me in promoting good sportsmanship from all of our 757 Select participants – players, coaches, families, & fans.
